A region rich in history
Rothbury is one of hundreds of fascinating towns dotted around the Hunter Valley, each with their own stories and history. From the early settlers and convict builders, right through to the Wonnarua, the people of the hills and plains, who have lived here for over 30,000 years.
The region quickly built a reputation for quality wine production. A number of winemakers made their mark and built up the region’s reputation across Australia’s metro cities.
The land at ARIA Hunter Valley boasts a rich history, having once been the site of the legendary Lindeman’s Sunshine Vineyard, one of the original vineyards planted with Semillon. More recently, the ARIA Hunter Valley site was used by Balloon Aloft, allowing decades of sightseers to enjoy breathtaking morning views from the skies.
